Trump and Influencers Ross/Musk are not a good mix
After Donald Trump has met with influencers Adin Ross and Elon Musk, he lost his edge to Kamala Harris in the polls and the bookie predictions.
When politicians meet with influencers, they do that to reach out for potentially new voters and/or groups. However, they should be careful about who they meet up with, and being careful is not what Trump is known for. Meanwhile, more than a billion dollar have already been spent on the next US election.

When you want to make a positive impression, you need to hang out with people who have an inherently good reputation, like let’s say MrBeast. Hm, okay, maybe not as good an example as it used to be – so you can reach out to people who were not in your field in the past.
Instead, Trump was interviewed by Adin Ross – exhibit 1 – a man who is also known for sniffing other people’s butts and – I guess – other things. But not only was Ross one of the worst picks Trump could make, he also managed to get into even more legal trouble.
Ross presented Trump with not one but two presents – a Rolex watch and a Tesla Cyber Truck – completely ignoring that it is illegal in the US to give gifts to someone who is running for president. This is obviously to prevent attempts of bribery, which is why behavior like this is illegal in most countries.
Of course, Ross got called out immediately, and now has to take the watch back – saying he would “give it to Barron” – and it doesn’t look like Trump is ever going to drive the truck either, if he even drives anything.
Things got so bad, that Adin Ross is now “threatening” to leave the US – if that indeed is a big loss for the country is debatable.
Legal Ramifications after Trump-Musk-Interview
Another peculiar pick was Trump’s decision to live stream a chat with Elon Musk on X. Musk had banned Trump from Twitter just two days after the insurrection Trump incited in Washington.
When he was unbanned, Trump didn’t return to Twitter, though, and instead mocked Musk on his own network. However, nothing that happens matters on that side of the aisle. So, they met up for a chat that is now generally considered to have been a disaster.
The takeaway: Trump made over 20 false claims, laughed about firing striking workers and gave an irritating compliment to the beauty of Kamala Harris.
In fact, the UAW (United Auto Workers Union) has filed a complaint “against disgraced billionaires Donald Trump and Elon Musk for their illegal attempts to threaten and intimidate workers who stand up for themselves…”
Harris now favorite to win the election
Trump’s attempts at becoming more popular by meeting up with both an internet personality and a high-end businessman has yielded clear results.
Kamala Harris has now overtaken him both in the polls and with the bookmakers. She is now ahead on every betting platform online. Only four weeks ago, Trump had a big lead over Joe Biden, but since Biden retreated, that lead has vanished.
There is no doubt that influencers have more social power than many politicians realize – Trump might actually be an exception here – but obviously, you have to know how to play the game.
